Why Am I Wanting to be on a Team?

Passion

Passion, a strong barely controllable amount of emotion toward something, is what I have for this sport and the horses. I want what’s best for the horse and for me. The reason why I continue to ride is not for the sense of accomplishment but is for the fire and energy I feel when I’m on the horse. It is not overwhelming - it is calming and peaceful.

Family/Team

Ever since I was little, I have always played team sports. Soccer, basketball, baseball…Riding is not like that; it’s very individual. You compete for yourself. It’s only you and your horse - no one else to really rely on. With that said, you do have a barn family, but they are not competing with you. They are coaching and mentally helping you from the stands/in gate. Being on so many sport teams has shaped me to understand what it truly means to be a team player and understand I will have off days but there will be days I have to pick up your teammates. I may sit the bench for a long time but the opportunity will arise to score that game/match winning point.

Memories

The amount of memories I have gained through sport families/sisterhood still blows my mind. I want to continue creating these life time moments in college.
